Weston

Hello, My name is Weston. I'm 3 years old.

I have some interesting new quirks these days:

1. Mom and dad decided that because I have such a nice set of teeth in my mouth, they would leave the skin on my apples for me to eat. I liked them so much that now all I do is eat the skin off the outside of my apple slice and refuse to eat the rest.

2. I'm being such a good big brother. I am the first to announce when "Baby brother is awake, mama" or "baby brother is sleeping, mama" or yell "BABY BROTHER IS SAD, MAMA" when he cries.

3. Mom and dad have found a very useful way to get me to do something. Mom will say "Weston, will you put your toys in the toy box" and because Weston is 3, his immediate response is "NO!". So mom just says "Okay, I'll ask daddy to do it". Weston quickly responds with "NO! Weston wants to do it". And he does- whatever it was that I asked him to do.

4. One of my newest phases happens when I ask for something, like a fruit snack, and mom says 'no'. I then change my tone of voice up an octave and ask "cuter". (but then answer is still no)

5. I love the 'Cars' movie- especially Lightning and Mator. Sometimes I run around backwards and yell "I'm going backwards like Mator".

6. My favorite place in the whole world is Target. If mom or dad asks me what I want to do today, I will always respond with "go to Target?". When I play pretend, I hop into the laundry basket and announce that I am going to Target. If mom asks what I plan to do there I will respond with "Get a cookie, get groceries" and continue to list of some grocery items.

Happy 4th of July

Since my babies are born so close to the 4th of July, I have bought them both a baby 4th of July outfit. Dallin's says "Little Firecracker"

Weston's 3rd Birthday

With Weston's world turned upside-down recently with the birth of a younger brother, I really wanted his birthday to be special and all about him. We had the house decorated with Curious George everything for when he woke up. If you asked Weston what he wanted for his birthday he would say: cup cakes, balloons and then start rattling off names of his friends.

So Weston had a party with his little friends in the morning and then we went out to dinner and opened presents from the family with dad, grandma and grandpa in the evening.

He must have had a good time, he asked me the other day if he could have "another birthday".

Once again, I was very proud of mycup cakes.

I was induced Monday morning, June 22nd. Labor was long and irritating- considering he wasn't born until the next day. Pushing was much faster this time- only 15 minutes as opposed to Weston's 1- 1/2 hours.

We are all home, happy and healthy.

Family Videos

We have been trying to come up with ways to show Weston how babies are born small and then grow up to help prepare him for the birth of a baby brother.  So we made these videos for him to show how he was little and now is a big boy and then made one for mommy and daddy.  It was fun. Hope you enjoy!

Adventures in potty training

So we have been at the potty training thing for several weeks now.  Ugh!  I am so sick of the phrase "UH OH! WANNA CLEAN UP!"  

When we realized that Weston was going to be wetting the bed A LOT we went to a second-hand kids store and bought a few crib sheets.  We had them folded and sitting on a toy box near his bed.  We were in his room playing last night and we moved the sheets to the ground so he could get into his toy box.  Then we hear those famous last words "uh oh! Wanna clean up!"  We look over and he has peed on all 3 of the clean sheets and a mattress pad! ARG!  

We have discovered that if we pull Weston out of his bed after nap time and put him on the potty he won't wet the bed.  The only down side is occasionally you have to wait for his sleepy time erection to go down. So the other day, Mike goes in and gets him up from his nap and puts him on the potty.  Weston looks down at himself and yells "WOAH! IT'S A BIG ONE!"

What else has Weston been up to:

He has a new love for the pool. We go a lot now with daddy home.  He wears his little inflatable wings and is getting pretty good at kicking his way around the pool.  

He is talking SO much these days.  Some of the things he says make us laugh so hard like: "Oh, I don't know either, but lets find out!" The other night at dinner Mike told him to take a bite of his food and Weston responded with "It's cool offing". 

He has started getting into the 2-year old phase where he says 'NO' a lot!  On the other hand, when he gives a positive response it is usually "yeah, okay".  

He is understanding more and more about this "baby brother" that will be joining the family any day now.  He tries to look into my belly button to see him.  He has occasionally 'knocked' on my belly and then told me "Want baby brother get out".  Once he said "He's growing." We are trying to read him books and show him pictures and videos of him as a baby so he can be a bit more prepared. 

As for mama, I am getting pretty uncomfortable now that we are nearing the end. I am hoping this baby comes as soon as possible.
