Weston's 2nd Birthday Party

The Decorations:
Weston says, "Welcome to my party!"

My favorite part: The star-shapped cup cakes!

Please someone tell me that I am not the first person to cut into a watermelon and scream "ACK! WHAT IS THIS?!?" Has anyone ever seen a YELLOW watermelon????

Emma loved her yellow watermelon, but she ate the rind also, so her opinion doesn't count. :)

Grill master Mike made some delicious burgers!

The parents enjoyed cooling off in the pool almost as much as the kids did!

PRESENTS!
Weston wanted to play with every toy and read every book and we kept taking them away so he could open the next one. Poor guy. But the clock was ticking closer and closer to nap time for all the kids!

CAKE!

We had a blast and we hope everyone else did too. Weston is sleeping now and probably won't wake up until tomorrow some time!

What's funny to me is everyone that sees Weston comments about how much he looks like his daddy!

Happy Belated Birthday Blog to ME!

So it was my birthday this past Sunday. I had to share my day with Father's Day. It worked out nicely because we celebrated all weekend long. :) First: my sob story. All I wanted for my birthday was some patio furniture. I had a really nice set picked out at Home Depot with chairs that swiveled and reclined. Then last week the water heater decided to explode! So after writing a check for $1,000 and sending the happy plumber on his way we decided that I wasn't going to get my nice furniture set. (who could complain? I get a hot shower for my birthday! There are millions of people that don't get that!) Anyway, we did end up getting some fun patio furniture, just a much cheaper set. Here is the pic:

A swing and 2 chairs. I think I actually like this better. I can have a nice shaddy swing with my hubby and we still have seats for 4. I also must say that SO many people went out of there way to wish me a happy birthday. I got cards, chocolate, a gift card from my neighbor, a new cookbook :) People dropped by to bring me special treats. I was so greatful to have such nice friends who went out of their way to make me feel special. Thank you to everyone and esecially my family who chipped in to help with my patio furniture.
Also, since it was Father's Day also, I set Mike loose in Lowes to pick out what he wanted. He got a new grill cover and 3 beautiful Gardenia bushes that he planted below our bedroom windows. I can't wait for spring and fall nights when the weather is cool and the windows are open and we get to smell the beautiful blossoms in our room.

We also recently got a bike seat for Weston. He has a blast riding around with daddy!

Does life get any better than this???

Calling all cheapskates!!

No cute stories or pics for you this time- Today I want to start a competition for who is the biggest cheapskate. In these days where gas is $4 a gallon I want everyone to be able to share their creative ideas for how they save mula! For example:

-Before I head to the grocery store I check for coupons at, http://www.coupons.com/ , http://www.coupons.smartsource.com/ and print off only the things that I know I need.

-I go to different grocery stores to find the best deals. ie: I do the majority of the shopping at Super Target, however their meat is pricey so I head over to Kroger and buy beef in bulk at $1.99 a pound. It's only one extra trip a month to get the cheap meat which I separate into meal size portions and freeze.

-I cut all my dryer sheets in half. You don't really need the whole sheet and the box lasts twice as long!

I hope this is a good start. Please post your ideas so we can all learn from each other some fun ways to save some money.
