Hives

***UPDATE*** As of Friday the hives have all cleared up. Thanks for the comments.

So Weston woke up covered in hives this morning. He had a case of them this past summer and we never figured out what it came from. I don't think he is allergic to anything. He has been itching them and fussing about it so I keep coating his body in calamine lotion. Any suggestions from mom's who have been through this before?
I learned online that hives are cause by an allergy or stress. Weston has had a cold recently with a nasty croupy cough. I can only figure that his body is just rejecting being sick or he is stressed from Grandma and Grandpa being in town for the weekend. It's a tough job being so adorable.

benedryl! get those things stopped...whatever is on the outside, is also on the inside. and you have to be careful when they get close to the throat/face. normally, kids don't react to stress that way. if its a food allergy (like my kids) it will appear immediately, or does Grma and Grpa have an animal that you guys don't have? he might just be allergic to that! hives in children are much different than adults, and usually are either environmental or digestion related. if its the g-parents, wash clothes, areas, vacuum couches, etc. and get him into an allergist to get a couple of tests, cause to have the whole body break out is something you'll want to watch out for again!

oh poor boy! Gwen has a prescription for the generic of Claritin and it works to keep her from breaking out when she has anything with milk in it. SO yeah try some benadryl.

Children's Benadryl is wonderful (Meadow takes 1 tsp) and over the counter cortizone ointment is great for stopping the itchiness!!

Has anything else changes? Laundry detergent, soap? Eating a new food?

Hives are no fun! If it keeps happening even after he is well, give me a call!

Dillon recently had an illness where he just had a mystery fever...no other symptoms. At the end of it he had a little rash break out on his tummy and back. Didn't seem to bother him though. Poor thing. And congrats on the boy! :)
